Sabin Kitchen
The existing kitchen of this old Portland four-square had several problems. The owners, who are fabulous cooks and avid entertainers, had almost no counter space and had no casual seating area in the kitchen. While they were lucky enough to live on a double lot with a beautiful side yard, they had no direct access to the outside. The existing kitchen also stood out as the only outdated room on an otherwise beautiful main floor.
The new kitchen design expanded into an existing utility porch. This expansion opened up space for an island eating bar and a small breakfast table as well as a set of doors leading out to the side yard. The cabinets are stained to match the dark wood trim found throughout the house. The seed and bean cabinet pulls were found by the owners at a garage sale.
